Bronchiolitis Prognosis
Most children with bronchiolitis recover fully without complications, even if the illness is severe. Generally, children are well within 7 to 14 days, although coughing can linger for a few weeks. Breathing usually becomes easier around the third day of the illness.
In some cases, children wheeze or cough whenever they get a cold for a few years after they recover from bronchiolitis. In less than 1% of cases, bronchiolitis can cause death. Most children who die from bronchiolitis are younger than 6 months old.
Rarely, bronchiolitis can recur; however, the infection usually does not occur twice in the same year
