Polio Vaccine
Inactivated Poliovirus vaccine (IPV) protects against the poliovirus. Polio is a serious illness that can cause paralysis and death. Inactivated polio vaccine should not be given to children with allergies to neomycin, streptomycin, or polymoxin B.
Immunization scheduleThe inactivated poliovirus vaccine is administered as follows:
- Dose 1 at 2 months of age
- Dose 2 at 4 months of age
- Dose 3 at 618 months of age
- Dose 4 at 46 years of age (before entering school)
