Healthcommunities.com's mission is to be a leading provider of physician developed and monitored medical information, continuing medical education, and resources for the empowerment of health care consumers and medical professionals.
Who we are:
Healthcommunities.com, Inc., began with the launch of urologychannel in 1998. As a board-certified urologist in private practice, company founder Stanley J. Swierzewski III, M.D., foresaw the demand for online information resources for patients and physicians. Because it was so important that this information be accurate and trustworthy, the concept and practice of "physician developed and monitored" was created. The content on the medical information websites has been developed and reviewed by a panel of board-certified physicians. As a subscriber to the Health on the Net Foundation, Healthcommunities.com content has been reviewed and approved by a reputable outside source.
Healthcommunities.com currently has a community of 30 medical information channels and has developed an extensive network of physician members through its Physician Website Management System, in which customized physician practice websites are created and maintained. Health care consumers are able to find providers through the MDLocator network, learn about physicians, download forms, and access a variety of resources that facilitate their health care decision making.
From offering technological features such as streaming videos, to creating new educational partnerships with health care suppliers and practitioners, Healthcommunities.com continues to meet the needs of consumers and medical professionals who are seeking reliable medical content, resources, and tools.
Management Team
Stanley J. Swierzewski III, M.D. - Founder & Chairman
A board-certified urologist, Dr. Swierzewski received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his urological residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he received several awards for his research publications. He currently directs the Continence Center at Holyoke Hospital in Holyoke, Massachusetts, is affiliated with most of the area hospitals, and is in private practice at Hampden Urological Associates. Ron Chu - Technical & Creative Director
Ron Chu joined Healthcommunities in 1999. He offers over 12 years of information technology know-how. As Technology Director, Ron works in all major facets of the IT field, from strategic initiatives to delivering business advantage through technology. As an early pioneer in developing and deploying health information technology on the Internet, Ron's insights and plans have made many of Healthcommunities.com over 30 specialty-specific websites leading health information portals. The framework and the technological infrastructure in use today are the result of Ron's highly developed knowledge of numerous system architectures, network and security administrations, and programming languages.
Ron is particularly knowledgeable in the nexus between information technology and the healthcare industry. Working with pharmaceuticals, hospitals, physicians, and corporate entities, he emphasizes improving processes and protocols. His decisions have made Healthcommunities.com a highly relevant destination for healthcare consumers on the Internet.
Thomas K. Lund - VP, Operations and Business Development
Tom joined Healthcommunities.com in 2000. He works with the Physician Website Management group, the Content Development group, and the Channel Website Operations group to develop Dr. Swierzewski’s strategies for creating online communities of physicians and patients. The “Communities” are supported by display ad sales, content sponsorships, content licenses, and subscription services that help physicians market their practices and provide patients with educational materials. Under Dr. Swierzewski’s direction, and in collaboration with Ron Chu, Tom has helped lead Healthcommunities.com to several successive years of solid revenue growth.
Prior to joining Healthcommunities.com, Tom worked in direct marketing. He graduated from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
