Nothing makes us feel more helpless than standing by, unable to help, as someone we love is suffering. With fibromyalgia (FM), chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS), and unrelenting fatigue (UF), that feeling of helplessness may be experienced by the patient and by family and friends alike. So how can you relate, understand, and even more importantly, help? This is a common question asked by many of our patients’ family members. Here are some seemingly simple answers that may help you help your loved one:
- Be supportive - Know that FM, CFIDS, and UF are very real diseases. Patients need support and understanding from those around them to make it through the struggle. It is possible to get their life back and you can help.
