On those days when a home-cooked meal isn’t an option—maybe you’re working late, or you’re traveling—packaged foods are a convenient alternative. To help make sure you’re munching on the healthiest foods possible, we scoured the shelves for nutritionally balanced items that are also delicious and affordable. With assistance from our staff tasters and our expert panel of registered dietitians, we came up with 25 foods—everything from waffles to salmon burgers—that are lower in calories, fat and sugar and higher in nutrients than their competitors.
