In this type of migraine, a neurological phenomenon called an aura occurs 10 to 30 minutes before the headache. Auras can be visual - such as bright shimmering lights around objects or at the edge of vision, wavy lines or temporary vision loss - or nonvisual. Nonvisual symptoms include numbness or tingling, weakness, speech abnormalities and dizziness.
