Prognosis for Hemochromatosis

If left untreated, hemochromatosis has a poor prognosis. The condition can cause organ damage (e.g., liver failure, heart failure), liver cancer, and diabetes. In many cases, patients who receive treatment before liver damage occurs have a normal life expectancy.
