Stacks of dishes and laundry piling up? Chores count as moderate physical activity when done right, says the American Council on Exercise. Follow these tips to get the most burn for your broom-stroke:
- Make it 30 Set a timer to ensure you move for 30 minutes straight, the recommended amount of moderate-intensity daily exercise.
- Crank the tunes Make an upbeat playlist. Research shows that exercise enjoyment increases if you listen to music you love.
- Hit the stairs Bounce between floors as you clean for maximum calorie-burn. Single-story home? Do a squat each time you bend over to pick something up.
