Juvenile Rheumatoid ArthritisResearch
Current research into the causes of JRA is focusing on genetics and environment. The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases has established a registry for families with two or more children diagnosed with the condition and is funding research into a number of pediatric rheumatic diseases, including JRA.
Arthritis medications, such as methotrexate, also are being studied to determine the long-term effect on children with JRA and suitability in treatment.
