While these conditions are unrelated and have different symptoms, they all require urgent care. In some cases, delaying treatment may result in serious complications—including permanent inability to achieve an erection (impotence)— or require the surgical removal of testicles (orchiectomy) or other tissue. Delaying treatment also may be fatal.
